Mayor Marvin Rees has indicated the expected final outcome of the long process to decide action on clean air. A charging Clean Air Zone covering an inner area of the city will be introduced from next October. Private cars will be included in the vehicles that incur charges. More recent vehicles will be exempt. What is being implemented is what was designated Option 1 in the recent consultation. The formal decision will be confirmed by Cabinet in February.
