Annual General Meeting, 14th May 2024

Members and friends are warmly invited to attend the 2024 Annual General Meeting, which will be held on Tuesday 14 May at ‘The Mount Without’ (formerly the Church of St Michael on the Mount Without), St Michael’s Hill, Bristol BS2 8DT. This striking and unusual venue has been generously made available by the owner, Norman Routledge.

This AGM is an opportunity to say farewell to Simon Birch, who is stepping down as Chair after 10 years (though not severing his links with the Society altogether) and to meet his successor- Sandra Fryer has joined the Management team with a view to standing for election as the next chair.

(from) 6.30pm, in the crypt: Informal gathering, with drinks and snacks, and an opportunity to look round. (Pay bar- NB contactless only, no cash); free buffet food provided, as at previous AGMs

7.30pm: Annual General Meeting
to be opened by the Rt Honourable The Lord Mayor of Bristol, and Patron of the Society, Councillor Paul Goggin

The AGM Agenda will include:

  • Annual Report: members of the Management Team and other volunteers will give a review of the year’s activity;
  • Approval of 2023 AGM minutes
  • Finance Report;
  • Election of officers and other Management Team members

Paper copies of the agenda, draft minutes of 2023 AGM and the 2023 financial accounts will be available at the AGM.

The bar will remain open during and after the formal meeting.

Nominations for officers and Management Team members must be sent to the secretary no later than 7 May; email secretary@bristolcivicsociety.org.uk.

Booking isn’t necessary- just turn up, and bring your friends.

Travel and Accessibility

The venue is very close to the city centre. The bus station is 600m away (there are some bus stops on the roads near the venue, but not served in the evenings).
There are two multi-storey car parks nearby, Trenchard Street and Rupert Street, 300-450m away. Alternatively, there is pay and display parking available in the surrounding area or approx 6 spaces that are free after 6pm, on a single yellow line opposite the Mount Without on St Michael’s Hill. If you have a disabled badge do get in touch with The Mount Without, who can organise special parking.

There is level access to both the main meeting space (the nave) and the crypt, and an accessible toilet.
