Summer Evening Social: 6th August 2024

The Summer Socials we have run for the last few years have been very successful and well attended, and have attracted a lot of appreciative comments from those who came. We are repeating it this year- again, using the Clifton Observatory, at the generous invitation of the owner, Ian Johnson. Those of you who have visited will know that the structure has been sensitively restored, and the site famously offers one of the best views in Bristol- ideal for a summer evening (if the weather holds!)

Formal booking isn’t needed, but to give us an idea of numbers, we’d appreciate it if you’d reply to this email if you think you’ll probably come- and say how many of you. Turn up at any time from 6pm.

As with our New Year socials, it will be a very informal gathering, a chance to meet old friends and make new ones, and tell the management team what we are doing wrong (or right). There will be a cash bar; since there won’t be any food on sale, we will be providing a few snacks.

Accessibility: most people gather on the roof terrace, weather permitting, and this is reached by stairs. The ground floor is fully accessible and has a disabled toilet. The approach is by any of three tarmac paths, from Suspension Bridge Road, Observatory Road and Clifton Down Road. Buses 8 and 505 serve stops nearby.

We look forward to seeing you there- and do bring friends and neighbours.
