Bristol’s Port, the last 200 Years: 22nd October 2024

This is a not-to-be-missed chance to hear from a renowned local historian about the changing fortunes of the city’s docks since the opening of the Floating Harbour in 1809.

Topics will include the rivalry between the ports of Bristol and Liverpool and the factors that led to the end of the city docks being used commercially in the 1970s.

Bristol born and bred, Rob Pritchard was a history teacher for 38 years and is well-known for helping relaunch Bristol Historical Association, where he is Treasurer.

The event takes place at 7:30pm in the Apostle Room, Clifton Cathedral, Pembroke Road, Bristol BS8 3BX. Tickets cost £5. Members will be invited by email to book a place.
