The Society strongly supports the Council’s initiative to re-develop vacant suburban sites around the city with higher residential densities. Most of the land the Council owns. The Council will develop some sites itself and some through other bodies such as local community trusts. The schemes are at different stages of planning.
The sites include:
- Glencoyne Square Southmead – a development of 300 new homes with employment and amenity space. This is the scheme shown in the image.
- Branwhite Close, Lockleaze – 47 new homes with 2 commercial units fronting Gainsborough Square.
- Bonnington Walk, Lockleaze – a mixed development of houses with some flats.
- Brislington Meadow Broomhill –300 new homes – a mixed development of houses and flats.
- Brunel Ford – former showrooms Muller Road – a mixed development of houses and flats.
- Brentry House Knole Lane, Bentry – 35 new homes – a mixed development of houses and flats.
The development of brown field sites is not only more convenient to the future residents but also contains new development within the Bristol urban area.
