The West of England Combined Authority will soon be consulting about its plans for an ambitious ‘Mass Transit System’, with four routes radiating from Bristol. The type of system – bus/metrobus, tram, light rail, an underground railway – is yet to be decided.
Trams have proved very successful and popular in many other towns and cities, in the UK, the rest of Europe, and the wider world. Could they be the answer to Bristol’s problems?
To help answer that question, the Civic Society has invited Roger Harrison to give a Zoom presentation based on his wide experience of the industry – in particular as Chairman of Tramlink Nottingham from 2006 to 2015. He was President of the Light Rail Transit Association 2015-17, and is a former director of UK Tram (the voice of the UK tram industry) and a former chairman of the Light Rapid Transit Forum
Members and event notification subscribers will receive an invitation to this Zoom meeting by email. The talk will be at 7.30pm on 12 May 2021
