This walking tour of Shirehampton led by David Martyn, Senior Conservation Architect, Bristol City Council, will cover its history and architecture.
Shirehampton is a fascinating area with a considerable history. Its conservation area is being considered for expansion and so this is a timely event.
The walk will cover: the Georgian rural suburb, the Lamplighters pub, the Edwardian expansion, Bristol’s first garden suburb, the coming of the railway and the Portway, King William’s visit, the premiere of Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending plus much more.

The tour will start at 2pm. The walk duration is approximately 2-2½ hours. Tickets £5. Numbers will be limited; booking will be through an email to be sent out, to members only.
