Land Off Sheene Way, Sheene Road, Bedminster, Bristol BS3 4EG

The Civic Society objects to this planning application for 219 residential dwellings. The Society has a fundamental objection to the loss of employment land in the absence of a clear policy towards the future allocation of employment sites in the city.

The scale of the proposed development is completely out of character compared with the predominant residential character of the area. The proposed blocks are far too high and should be reduced in height by a minimum of three storeys. Internally, the layout would result in the small court yard area being very shaded and unpleasant to use.

In summary, the design is hugely at odds with the Government’s drive for creating beautiful developments.

  1. Was this area not covered by a Master Plan prepared by Nash Consultants and which the council adopted for Development Management purposes? The height proposed is excessive and contrary to the plan prepared.
